Boswin is excited to announce our new Drama & Sports Camp! The program is structured in the following manner:
Half-day Drama Camp
Details:
Ages: 8-11
Description:
This camp is designed to help youth express their creativity and imagination! The instructor will run a variety of fun activities, such as role-playing and improv games.
Students will also become more confident in their public speaking skills. They will learn the qualities of a good presenter (such as effective body language and tone of voice), and will have many opportunities to deliver speeches in front of their peers!
Example activities:
1) “21st Century Fairy Tales”
The class will be split into small groups. Each team will work together to create and present their own short play based on a classic fairy tale (ex: Hansel & Gretel), complete with props and music. The twist? The stories have to fit into modern-day society!
2) “Go With The Flow”
A group of 4-6 students will stand in front of the class. The instructor will start things off by setting the scene (ex: “It was a sunny day, and Mark had just bought $100 worth of ice cream”). Then, it will be up to the students to create a funny and interesting story, right on the spot! They will react to what their group members do and say, and improvise their own lines!
3) “The Story Game”.
The instructor will give the students the ending of a story (ex: “…and the gingerbread man fell into the lake!”). The class will be split up into groups. Each group will work together to think of a creative story with that ending, and then act it out in front of the class.
