Fall & Winter 2026–27 Robotics, Coding and AI Registration Is Open at Boswin

Early Engagement Saving Ends August 15, 2026

Registration is now open for Boswin’s Fall and Winter 2026–27 robotics and coding programs in Mississauga.

Families can choose from regular after-school robotics and coding classes or explore competitive robotics through Boswin’s VEX IQ and VEX V5 programs. During the upcoming season, Boswin is also planning to introduce the AI Application Lab, an exciting new pilot program that will give students opportunities to explore practical and responsible applications of artificial intelligence.

Whether your child is discovering technology for the first time, developing an interest in coding, looking for a challenging competitive experience or curious about the possibilities of AI, Boswin offers progressive opportunities for students to learn, create and grow.

Families who register for eligible programs by August 15, 2026, can receive Boswin’s Early Engagement Saving. Registering early also provides the best opportunity to secure a preferred program and schedule before spaces fill.

More Than a Regular After-School Activity

A meaningful after-school program should give children opportunities to explore their interests while developing skills they can use in school and throughout their lives.

At Boswin, students learn through hands-on activities. Depending on their age and program, they may construct mechanical systems, program a robot, create a digital project, use motors and sensors, or work with classmates to solve a technical challenge.

Rather than expecting every project to work perfectly on the first attempt, students are encouraged to test their ideas, identify problems and make improvements. This process helps them understand that mistakes are a natural and valuable part of learning.

Regular After-School Robotics and Coding Programs

Boswin’s regular Fall and Winter programs provide structured weekly learning without the additional time and travel commitments associated with competitive teams.

These programs are suitable for beginners, returning students and families looking for an engaging educational activity after school or on weekends.

JK–SK Builders: Ages 4–5

The JK–SK Builders program provides young children with a playful introduction to building, creativity and simple engineering.

Students explore how parts connect, how structures are created and how basic mechanisms work. Age-appropriate building challenges encourage them to use their imaginations, communicate their ideas and solve problems through hands-on play.

This program is an excellent starting point for children who enjoy creating and discovering how things work.

Primary Robotics: Ages 6–9

Primary Robotics introduces students to foundational robotics and engineering concepts through engaging projects.

Students explore gears, pulleys, movement, mechanical systems and simple machines. As they progress, they begin connecting construction with logical thinking and introductory programming.

The program teaches children that engineering involves imagination, planning, testing and improvement. It can also help prepare interested students for more advanced robotics learning and possible future participation in VEX IQ.

Primary Coding: Ages 6–9

Primary Coding makes programming accessible through beginner-friendly, block-based platforms.

Students learn fundamental concepts such as sequences, commands, conditions and logical decision-making. They use these skills to create animations, games and interactive digital projects.

Through coding, children begin to understand that technology is not only something they consume. It is also a creative tool they can use to express ideas and build their own projects.

Junior Robotics: Ages 10–14

Junior Robotics gives older students opportunities to investigate robotic movement, sensors, programming and environmental interaction.

Through progressively challenging projects, students learn how robots receive information, respond to programmed instructions and perform assigned tasks. They also develop stronger building, troubleshooting and coding skills.

Junior Robotics is suitable for curious beginners and students who want to establish a stronger technical foundation before considering competitive robotics.

Junior Coding: Ages 9–12

Junior Coding introduces students to Python and progressively more advanced programming concepts through interactive activities and game development.

Students learn how to organize instructions, identify errors, revise their code and transform original ideas into working programs. The learning process encourages creativity, attention to detail and independent problem-solving.

No previous coding experience is necessary. Curiosity and a willingness to experiment are the most important starting points.

New Pilot Program: AI Application Lab

Boswin is excited to introduce the AI Application Lab, a new pilot program planned for the 2026–27 season.

The program will provide students with opportunities to explore how artificial intelligence can be used thoughtfully and creatively in practical situations. Through project-based learning, students will begin developing a better understanding of AI while strengthening critical thinking, research, creativity, problem-solving and responsible technology use.

The AI Application Lab represents an important step in Boswin’s continued development as an AI and robotics education centre.

Because this is a new pilot, its curriculum, age groups, schedule and enrollment details are still being finalized. This flexibility will allow Boswin to develop the program carefully and create a meaningful learning experience based on students’ needs and the responsible use of emerging technology.

Competitive Robotics at Boswin

Students looking for a more intensive experience can explore Boswin’s competitive robotics programs.

Competitive robotics requires a greater commitment from students and families than a regular weekly class. Team members attend practices consistently and work together throughout the season to design, build, program, test and improve a competition robot.

Students also learn to manage time, divide responsibilities, communicate under pressure and respond constructively when a design does not perform as expected.

Boswin offers competitive opportunities through VEX IQ and VEX V5.

VEX IQ Competitive Robotics: Ages 8–14

VEX IQ provides an exciting introduction to competitive robotics for elementary and middle-school students.

Teams design, build and program a robot for the official annual VEX IQ game. During the season, students practise teamwork matches, driver skills and autonomous programming. They may also maintain an engineering notebook documenting their ideas, design decisions, tests and improvements.

Boswin may offer different participation levels. Some opportunities provide an accessible starting point for students who are newer to competition, while advanced teams may require an assessment or invitation based on experience, commitment, teamwork and readiness.

Competition results can be exciting, but winning is not the only measure of success. Students also learn how to recover from setbacks, improve their work and contribute positively to a team.

VEX V5 Competitive Robotics: Ages 14–17

VEX V5 is Boswin’s advanced competitive robotics pathway for high-school students.

Using a sophisticated metal-based robotics platform, students work with mechanical design, electronics, sensors, programming, automation and game strategy. Teams build a robot for the season’s challenge, develop autonomous routines and prepare for fast-paced alliance matches.

Students gain practical experience with the engineering design process by brainstorming, prototyping, testing, analyzing results and refining their work throughout the season.

They may also develop leadership and project-management skills by accepting responsibility for construction, coding, driving, strategy, documentation or team organization.

Boswin’s teams participate in regional events and may pursue opportunities to qualify for higher levels of VEX competition.

The best choice depends on your child’s age, experience, interests and readiness for commitment.

Regular robotics or coding classes are usually the best starting point for beginners and students exploring a new interest. These programs provide a manageable weekly schedule and help children establish foundational skills without competition pressure.

The AI Application Lab may appeal to students and families interested in Boswin’s developing AI education direction. As a pilot, additional details will be shared when its curriculum and enrollment structure are finalized.

VEX IQ may be appropriate for students ages 8–14 who enjoy robotics, teamwork, strategy and competition. VEX V5 is intended for older students ready for advanced engineering, programming and team responsibilities.
