Parent Code Of Conduct

Guidelines for Supportive, Respectful, and Positive Parent Involvement in Boswin Programs

Parent Code Of Conduct

Parent Handbook

At Boswin Robotics, we value the important role that parents play in supporting their child’s growth, learning, and enjoyment throughout our programs. This guide outlines expectations for parental involvement, emphasizing positive support, communication, and respect for the coach-student relationship.

Role of the Parent

Parents are instrumental in creating a healthy and encouraging environment for their child to develop skills and confidence. While coaches manage the technical and instructional aspects of the program, parents are responsible for supporting their child emotionally, ensuring they have accurate and up-to-date program information, and fostering a love for learning and participation.

Information regarding practice schedules and locations will be provided primarily via email and occasionally posted on our website. Parents should ensure they and their children stay informed and seek clarification from the coach when needed. Families are welcome to attend open sessions and observe training. If you wish to speak with a coach, please arrange to do so before or after the session.

Guidelines for Positive Parental Involvement

Support your child’s experience.
Encourage participation for the enjoyment and learning experience it brings. Ask your child, “Did you have fun today?” rather than focusing solely on performance or outcomes.

Avoid projecting personal ambitions.
Every child develops at their own pace. Refrain from comparing your child’s progress to others or setting unrealistic expectations. Let their growth be their own journey.

Leave the coaching to the professionals.
Respect the boundaries between parent and coach. Providing technical or strategic advice can confuse your child and interfere with the learning process. Focus instead on offering encouragement, love, and emotional support.

Promote a positive atmosphere.
During competitions or group activities, cheer respectfully and avoid criticism of your child, other participants, or the coach. Positive reinforcement enhances motivation and enjoyment.

Recognize and validate your child’s emotions.
Feelings of nervousness or fear before a competition or new activity are normal. Reassure your child without pressuring them, and trust that the coaching team has their best interests in mind.

Respect officials and program staff.
Mistakes can happen, and it’s important to model respect and sportsmanship at all times. Avoid confronting or criticizing officials, staff, or volunteers during or after sessions.

Support the coach-child relationship.
Trust the expertise of our coaching staff and maintain a unified message of support. Criticizing the coach in front of your child can damage their confidence and undermine the trust essential for learning and development.
